Enjoy a short day-trek on Mount Kilimanjaro, perfect for those who want to get a taste of Africa’s highest peak but have limited time to do so

* Please be aware that you will not reach the summit on this trek

You will be picked up at your hotel in Moshi at around 7:30 a.m. and be driven to Kilimanjaro National Park’s Marangu Gate (1-hour drive). This is where you will check-in before embarking on your guided hike through the forest. Fully immersed in the beautiful landscape and unique vegetation of Kilimanjaro, you may even spot some of the local wildlife including monkeys, red dickers and different species of birds.

After hiking approximately 4 hours, you will arrive at Mandara Hut where you will stop for a picnic lunch. After lunch and a short rest, you will continue on to the Maundi Crater where on a clear day, you can witness the incredible panoramas over Kibo peak, Moshi town and Litoktok on the Kenyan border. Finally, you will hike back down to Marangu Gate where you will arrive in the late afternoon. Here, your driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi.

If you are on the 2-day trek, you will hike back to Mandara Hut where you will remain for dinner and an overnight stay in basic mountain accommodation.

On day 2  you will leave the rainforest in the morning, following on an ascending path through the open moorlands towards Horombo Hut. The views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are incredible from there!  After a short rest, you will return to Mandara Hut for lunch before hiking back to the park gate where your driver will be waiting for you.

Please be advised that you are required to be accompanied by a certified Kilimanjaro guide for all treks inside Kilimanjaro National Park.

All short treks are offered on a private basis and you can go at any time of the year.
