Learn about the culture & traditions of the Chagga people and discover the beauty of the Kilimanjaro region!

Located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the picturesque village of Marangu offers both magnificent nature and fascinating insight into Tanzanian life; both modern life and the life of the ancient Chagga people who once endured brutal Maasai raids but were able to survive through the clever use of underground tunnels.

Your day trip will include a visit to the Chagga underground caves, the Chagga Live Museum (a small outdoor space that will give you a greater understanding of traditional Chagga life), a short and fairly easy hike to a beautiful waterfall and a visit to a local coffee plantation where you will learn how coffee is grown and produced, while partaking in a traditional coffee ceremony with singing, dancing and preparing your own delicious coffee from bean to cup.

Your tour includes a delicious traditional style Chagga lunch at a small local restaurant where you will also have the opportunity to taste their banana beer, the most popular beverage among the locals.

You will be picked up at your accommodation in Moshi after breakfast and be driven back in the late afternoon.
