On this safari you can choose between two different types of accommodation according to your budget :
Camping : On a budget safari in Tanzania, staying in public campsites offers a basic, adventurous experience. You sleep in simple tents, with minimal facilities like shared bathrooms and cold showers. These campsites are usually unfenced, so you can hear and sometimes see wildlife roaming nearby, adding excitement to the experience. Meals are typically prepared by your own personal cook, and you’ll likely bond with fellow travelers in a communal setting. Though less luxurious, it’s a raw, immersive way to experience the Tanzanian wilderness at a more affordable price.
Mid-range lodge : Please click here for examples of the different lodges we use. All meals will be provided by the lodge.
If you wish to upgrade to superior or luxury accommodations, please contact us to inquire about the additional cost.
Day 1 : Arusha or Moshi – Lake Manyara National Park – Karatu
After an early breakfast at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, your safari guide will pick you up and your adventure kicks off! Prepare for a 3 hour drive from Arusha or 5 hours from Moshi through the local villages, giving you a glimpse of Tanzanian daily life. You’ll spot Maasai folk in their vibrant traditional attire, herding their cattle as you drive through. Your destination is Lake Manyara National Park, arriving around noon.
A safari in Lake Manyara National Park offers an enchanting mix of diverse landscapes and wildlife. As you journey through lush groundwater forests, open savannahs, and along the lake’s edge, you’ll encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, and flamingos (depending on season) in their natural splendor. The soda lake attracts thousands of migratory birds, creating a vibrant spectacle of color and sound (depending on season). Dense woodlands reveal large families of monkeys, while herds of buffalo roam the grassy plains. The park’s intimate size and rich biodiversity provide a serene and immersive safari experience, with the Rift Valley escarpment offering beautiful views.
Day 2 : Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Mto Wa Mbu
After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on an unforgettable game drive in the famous Ngorongoro Crater, a unique natural wonder, often described as a “Garden of Eden.”
As you descend into the crater, vast grasslands unfold, home to elephants, lions, buffalo, rhinos, and countless herbivores. The crater floor is a photographer’s paradise, with lakes, swamps, and open savannahs framed by the towering crater walls. The permanent water supply means animals are present year-round, offering exceptional game-viewing opportunities. The crater’s stunning landscape, combined with the rich density of wildlife, creates an unforgettable safari experience.
Day 3 : Mto Wa Mbu – Tarangire National Park – Arusha or Moshi
This morning you head to the spectacular Tarangire National Park, a haven of beauty and wildlife! A safari in Tarangire is a captivating adventure into one of Tanzania’s most beautiful national parks. Famous for its ancient baobab trees and vast elephant herds, the park offers an intimate, off-the-beaten-path experience. The Tarangire River winds through the landscape, attracting diverse wildlife, from zebras and wildebeests to buffalo, giraffes and many predators. In the dry season, the river becomes a vital lifeline, drawing animals in large numbers, creating breathtaking wildlife scenes. The park’s golden savannahs, dotted with towering baobabs and acacia trees, shimmer in the soft African light, offering a serene yet thrilling backdrop for unforgettable game viewing!
After an exiting game drive, you’ll head towards the exit for the long drive back to Arusha or Moshi.
